The story behind the image:
Local photographers refer to this twig as the ‘special branch’ for its aesthetically pleasing form and also since it’s one of the kingfisher’s favourite perches for fishing. Special Branch also refers to the Special Detective Unit of the Garda Síochána (Irish National Police).
This image is dedicated to members of An Garda Síochána and to all our front line workers.
