The story behind this print
Nova
The Latin for new. In astonomy, nova describes a powerful explosion of a star. When a nova occurs, the star suddenly becomes much brighter, sometimes appearing as a new star in the sky. This brightening can last from a few days to several weeks, before the star gradually returns to its original state. It seems a fitting title for this image of a new kingfisher, captured in the first days of the new year (2025), exploding off the branch, revealing his fiery side for a few brief seconds before returning to his original state, perched on a twig overseeing his domain.
Did he catch a fish this time? Like the deepest secrets of our universe that shall remain a mystery…
